Description

Main Purpose:

The most important and essential job function of this position is attitude and includes the following: getting along with co-workers, working as a team member, functioning appropriately under pressure, responding in a positive manner to supervision, complying with safety, health, and environmental and human resources requirements including those regarding substance use and abuse. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Functions:

• Uses a cutting torch to cut metal to align beams, grating, stairways, and pipes properly.
• Uses a come-a-long to assist in aligning materials to fit materials properly.
• Uses forklifts to move materials in the yard.
• Uses grinder to remove slag and smooth metal to achieve a better fit.
• Uses squares, levels, torch, and center punch to assist in fitting.
• Uses grinder and torch overhead to tack and fit material.
• Uses a hammer wrench to tighten stud bolts on valves and flanges.
• Uses a sledgehammer to help tighten stud bolts on valves and flanges.
• Bolts ladder cage to structures.
• Helps Riggers to hang a deck.
• Handles valves to fit with a pipe in a pipe rack.
• Loads valves in the basket to go on top of the deck.
• Cuts metal to properly align beams, grating, stairways, and pipes.
• Fits flanges and valves together when constructing the pipe rack.
• Aligns beams, grating, stairways, and pipe to be tacked and welded to complete the job

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Standing: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.
• Walking: This is an essential job function/physical requirement.
• Turning, twisting, bending, and stooping- These physical requirements are essential job functions.
• Pushing and Pulling- These physical requirements are essential job functions.
• Reaching, forward, and overhead are essential job functions /physical requirements.
• Climbing: This is an essential job function /physical requirement.
• Balancing, fingering, feeling, talking, hearing, and seeing- These are all considered regular physical duties/requirements and would be needed/required to work in this industrial environment safely and efficiently.
• Lifting - employees must lift 25 pounds and occasionally 50-75 pounds.

Job Requirements:

• Two years of experience fitting.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Must be able to pass background checks to company policy.
• TWIC card

Desirable Experience, Education, and Training:

• Highschool diploma or GED.

Tools, Equipment, and Technology:

• Fitters must know of and use cutting torches, measuring tapes, calculators, levels, man-lifts, high-reach equipment, welding machines, chipping hammers, pressure chippers, power grinders, etc.
• Must be able to read and write.
