The University of Louisiana at Lafayette New Iberia Research Center specializes in the breeding, management, and importation of a diverse range of nonhuman primate species and offers a broad range of diagnostic, laboratory, and human resources for the development and characterization of nonhuman primate models for applied and basic research aimed at promoting human quality of life. We're looking for a Plumber/Pipefitter Master to join our New Iberia Research Center (NIRC) Team. This position plays a vital role in performing highly skilled, technical installations, repairs, and modifications to plumbing systemsboth above and below groundensuring reliable water, steam, and gas services across our facilities.
Minimum Qualifications: One year of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been on-the-job experience: Three years of experience or training in pipefitting, steam fitting, or plumbing.
Job Duties and Other Information: In this role, you will: Perform repairs, troubleshooting, and modifications to above and below ground plumbingincluding tunnel systems Service high- and low-pressure steam, gas, and water systems Conduct preventive maintenance and repairs on domestic and commercial hot water heaters and boilers, ensuring compliance with code and insurance standards Interpret complex plans and specifications for installations and repairs Install and repair steam regulators, traps, relief valves, and various components of plumbing systems Fabricate and assemble pressure and sewage piping using techniques like soldering, threading, bonding, and welding Repair fire mains, install kicker blocks and valves, and maintain steam sterilizers and medical gas lines as needed Serve as a lead worker, providing guidance and oversight to subordinate Plumber/Pipefitters and Apprentices.
